About Kate
I began my sewing journey my sophomore year of high school when I decided to take fashion design as one of my electives. I came into the class not knowing anything about sewing or design, but quickly became obsessed with anything sewing related, and decided to open up my own Etsy shop. I was very successful in selling my handmade bags and accessories, but ultimately in the long run, I wanted to create my own clothing brand. I soon transferred off of Etsy, and created my own website to begin my brand.
Now, I'm a freshman in college majoring in Fashion Apparel and Merchandising. My goal is to keep growing and building my brand, in and after college! As part of my brand's mission, I am committed to practicing sustainable fashion by using secondhand materials whenever possible. This approach not only allows me to create unique pieces, but also helps to keep unwanted fabric out of landfills, giving them a new life. By up-cycling these materials, I aim to reduce waste and promote a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly fashion industry.
I am deeply committed to challenging the harmful practices of fast fashion by advocating for a more sustainable and ethical approach to clothing production. In a world where mass production comes at the expense of environmental degradation and exploitative labor practices, I believe it's crucial for us to change the standard of the fashion industry. My vision for my brand extends far beyond just creating clothes, it's about changing the way we think about fashion and its impact on the world. I plan to combat the harmful effects of fast fashion by hand making every single one of my pieces and using recycled fabric whenever possible.
Thank you to everyone who's supported me on this journey, and I hope that I can spread joy through each and every piece of clothing I create!
